About Us

Unani Colleges and Hospitals are widely established across India, but in West Bengal there was no such facility until 1994. At that time, the All India Unani Tibbi Conference (West Bengal Unit), whose Head Office is in Delhi, took the responsibility to provide medical education and promote research by founding the Calcutta Unani Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Established in 1994, the Calcutta Unani Medical College & Hospital was built through the dedicated efforts of Hk. Syed Faizan Ahmad, the Governing Body, and several eminent supporters.

Courses Offered

Regulated by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH, Government of India www.ccimindia.org.

Admission Permission is granted through letter NO. 0-14014/7/2020-EP(1) dated 09.11.2020 of the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. www.ayush.gov.in.

Affiliated by the West BengalUniversity of Health Sciences Receipt No. 000109 dated 13.01.2020.

This Program consists of 5 ½ yrs. duration ( 4 ½ yrs.+ 1yr.compulsary rotator internship training). The Academic 4 ½ yrs are divided into 04 sessions ( 03 sessions of 1 yr each & and the last of 1 ½ yrs. duration).

Student should join the one year compulsory internship within 30 days of declaration of final professional result and complete the internship without any gap.

NOTE: No stipend during internship.

The final Degree will be awarded by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

Admission

Process of Admission starts after the NEET Result and is handled by the portal www.wbhealth.gov.in (Central Selection Committee, W.B) www.ayush.gov.in ( All India Quota)

After on line counseling through Central Selection Committee W.B. & for All India quota, Department of AYUSH, Govt. of India, successful students are admitted for the course.

Eligibility Conditions

  • 1. A candidate seeking admission to this course must have completed the age of 17 years before 1st day of October in the year of admission
  • 2. The candidate seeking admission to kamil – e – Tib – e – Jarahat (BUMS) Course must have passed Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent recognized examination there to with 45% or more marks in the aggregate of three subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
  • 3. While deciding the merit the marks obtained in the language will not be taken into consideration.
  • 4. The candidates must additionally has passed English as a subject of study up to 12th Class level (core or elective),provided that the student has passed in all the subjects separately required for purpose of admission in BUMS Course.
  • 5. For BUMS course he/she should have passed the qualifying examination of Urdu either as M. I. L. or has passed High School/Matric/ Secondary examination or equivalent with Urdu. Medium of instruction and examination: Urdu will be the medium of instruction and examination to BUMS Course.
